Temple arranged as in diagram. Members assembled and clothed. Lamp on Altar lighted. Members present, but not taking office, rise at the words "Let us adore the Archon of Earth" and face North, remaining so to the end of the invocation. They do the same at the closing, but otherwise do not move from their places.  All officers move clockwise within the Hall.  Alter genders as appropriate. (! =One knock)

Opening the 1=10 Hall

Hiereus: (knock)

Hiero: (sitting) Fratres and Sorores of the Temple of Light and Darkness, Please assist me to open the Temple of the Zelatori. Soror Kerux, please see that the Temple is properly guarded.

Kerux: (goes to door and knocks)

Sentinel: (knocks in response)

Kerux: Frater Hierophant, the Temple is properly guarded. (Returns to her place)

Hiero: Frater Hiereus, please see that the Zelatori are assembled.

Hiereus: Fratres and Sorores, give the Signs of the 1=10 Hall.

(All rise and give1=10 Sign.  Remain standing.)

Frater Hierophant, the Zelatori are assembled. (Salute with 1=10 Sign)

Hiero: (rising and giving 1=10 Sign) Let the Temple be purified and consecrated with Water and with Fire.

Stolistes and Dadouchos, one on each side of the Pillars, advance to the center of the Hall. All give 1=10 Sign.

Dadouchos makes cross in air with Censer, and swings it forward three times, saying:

Dad: I consecrate with Fire.

Stolistes makes cross with Cup, and sprinkles thrice towards the East, saying:

Stol: I purify with Water.

Kerux: The Temple is cleansed. (All sit.)

Hiero: Let the Element of this Grade be named that it may be awakened in the spheres of those present and in the sphere of the Order.

Heg: The Element of Earth.

Hiereus: (!) Let us adore the Archon of Earth (All face East)

Hiero: Adonai ha-Aretz. Adonai Melekh. (making cross on self,) Unto Thee be the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory.

(While making cross and circle before him, he says) Malkuth, Geburah, Gedulah.

All give 1=10 Sign, Kerux goes to North and sprinkles Salt before Tablet saying:

Kerux: Let the Earth adore Adonai!

Hierophant leaves throne and goes to the North. He stands facing the center of the Tablet of the North. Hiereus to Hiero's right hand, Hegemon on the left; Stolistes behind Hiereus, Dadouchos behind Hegemon, all officers facing North. Kerux returns to place. Hierophant makes signs in front of and concentric with Tablet of the North.

Hiero: ( making invoking Passive Spirit Pentagram over Tablet) Behold! From the Ten ineffable Sephiroth doth proceed the One Spirit of the Elohim of the living, Air, Water, Fire, and also Height, Depth, East, West, North and South. (making invoking Earth Pentagram over Tablet) In the Name of Adonai Melekh and of the Bride and Queen of the Kingdom, Spirits of Earth adore Adonai!

Hiero hands Scepter to Hiereus and taking the Sword, makes sign of the Ox in the center of the Pentagram saying:

Hiero: In the Name of Auriel, the Great Archangel of Earth, and by the sign of the Head of the Ox: Spirits of Earth adore Adonai!

Hiero returns Sword and takes Hegemon's Scepter makes Cross in the air saying:

Hiero: In the Names and Letters of the Great Northern Quadrangle, Spirits of Earth adore Adonai!

Hiero returns Scepter and takes Cup from Stolistes makes cross and sprinkling thrice to North saying:

Hiero: In the Great Name of Power, borne upon the Banners of the North: MORDIALHCTGA: Spirits of Earth adore Adonai!

Hiero returns Cup and takes Censer from Dad makes cross and three swings towards tablet saying:

Hiero: In the name of ICZHIHAL, Great Elemental King of the North, Spirits of Earth adore Adonai!

Hiero returns Censer, reclaims Scepter and returns to Throne. All officers return to their places and all face as usual.

Ceremony of the Three Paths

Hiero: (knocks) Fratres and Sorores, our Soror ______ , having made such progress in the Paths of Occult Knowledge as has enabled her to pass an examination in the requisite knowledge, is now eligible to enter the Hall of the Zelatori. Therefore, by our power to wield a current of initiation I would undertake to advance her in due form. What is your will?

All:   Love is the Law, Love under Will.

Hiero: Frater Hegemon, please superintend the preparation of the Neophyte and give the customary alarm.

Hegemon responds with 1=10 Sign.

Hegemon takes Hermetic Cross and leaves room by South and West. Sentinel prepares Neophyte who may wear the lamen of her grade and is hoodwinked. She carries the Fylfot Cross in her right hand. Hegemon instructs Aspirant in the knocks of the Hall. Kerux opens the door to be just ajar in response to knocks.

Heg: Let me enter the Portal of Wisdom

Kerux: I will.

Kerux opens door and admits them. Sentinel dims lights in hall.

Hiero: Except Adonai ha-Aretz build the house, their labor is but lost that build it. Except Adonai ha-Aretz keep the City, the Watchers wake in vain. Soror Neophyte, by what aid dost thou seek admission to the 1=10 Hall of the Zelatori?

Neo: (assisted by Hegemon) By the guidance of Adonai ha Aretz, by the possession of the necessary knowledge, by the signs and tokens of the 0=0 Grade. By this symbol of the Hermetic Cross.

Kerux takes Hermetic Cross from her and leads her between the Pillars.  Kerux places Hermetic Cross on altar.

Hiero: Give the step and signs of a Neophyte (done)

Soror Kerux, receive from the Neophyte the Token, Grand Word and Password of the 0=0 Hall.

Kerux: Give me the Grip or Token. (done)

Give me the Grand Word. (Hoor-par-krat) (done)

Give me the Pass Word. (done)

This is done, Hegemon prompting if necessary.

Kerux: Frater Hierophant, I have received them.

Hiero: Soror ________, Do you do you solemnly pledge yourself to aspire to penetrate the Mysteries of this 1=10 Hall of the Zelatori, as you have already sworn to regarding the 0=0 Hall?

Neo: I do.

Hiero: Then you will lay your right hand upon the Earth and say: I swear by the Earth on which I Live.

This is done - Neophyte repeating the words. Kerux and Hegemon assist the Neophyte with kneeling for the Oath.

Hiero: Let the symbol of blindness be removed.

Hegemon removes hoodwink and returns to her place in the South. Neophyte remains as before. Kerux takes salt from north altar and holds it in front of Neophyte.

Hiero: Take Salt with your left hand and cast it to the North saying: "Let the Powers of Earth witness my pledge." (Done. Kerux replaces Salt.) Let the Neophyte rise and be consecrated with Fire and with Water in confirmation of her pledge, and in the Name of the Lord of Initiation.

Dadouchos comes around White Pillar, stands before Neo. and makes three forward swings with censer, saying:

Dad: In the name of the Lord of Initiation, the Lord of Silence and of Strength, I consecrate thee with Fire.

Dadouchos returns the way she came. Stol. comes around Black Pillar, stands before Neo. and sprinkles thrice, saying:

Stol: In the name of the Lord of Initiation, the Lord of Silence and of Strength, I purify thee with Water. (Stol. returns the way she came.)

Hiero: The 0=0 Hall of Neophyte is a preparation for other Halls.  It is a threshold before our discipline, and shows by its imagery the Light of the Hidden Knowledge dawning in the Darkness of Creation.  You are now to begin to analyze and comprehend the Nature of that Light. To this end, you stand between the Pillars, in the Gateway where the mysteries of the 0=0 Hall were communicated to you. Prepare to enter the Immeasurable Region.

Hiero: In the midst of Eternal Night

Arose the Limitless Light as a Winged Globe

Embraced by Infinite Space

Where they touched, lightnings hung

in the form of a great Tree. Its roots reaching into Eternity

Its crown basking in Radiant Now.

From its branches grew all of the Sephiroth,

Manifesting form unto the Light.

Now, the Eternal Night of Space is embodied by Nuit

And the Limitless Light by Hadit

And between them is Babalon, the Malkah,

the Bride enthroned upon Binah

Who keeps watch and gives guidance to those who seek the Hidden Knowledge--

Let the Neophyte enter the Left-hand Path.

Kerux takes her place in front of Neo, and leads her in a Northeast direction towards the Hiereus, halts, and steps out of the direct line between Hiereus and Neophyte.

Hiereus: Whence comest thou?

Neo: (Prompted as necessary by Kerux) I come from between the two Pillars and I seek the light of the Hidden Knowledge in the Name of Adonai ha-Aretz.

Hiereus: And Nuit answered and said: I am the Void of Empty Space and Eternal Night. The foolish and ignorant gaze upon the face of the World and find therein nothing but terror and obscurity. It is to them the Terror of Darkness and they are as drunken folk stumbling in the Darkness. Return, for thou canst not pass by.

Kerux leads Neo. back as she came and places her between the Pillars.

Hiero: Let the Neophyte enter the Right-hand Path.

Kerux leads Neo. Southeast, and halts opposite Hegemon, stepping aside from before Neophyte.

Heg: Whence comest thou?

Neo: (Assisted by Kerux) 12.0pt'> I come from between the two Pillars and I seek the light of the Hidden Knowledge in the Name of Adonai ha-Aretz.

Heg: And Hadit answered and said: I am the flame that burns in every heart of man, and in the core of every star. The wise gaze upon the World and behold there the dazzling image of the Utmost Divine. Not yet can thy eyes bear that vision. Return, for thou canst not pass by.

Kerux leads Neo. back as she came and places her between the Pillars.

Hiero: Let the Neophyte enter the straight and narrow Pathway which turns neither to the right nor to the left.

Kerux leads Neo. directly up the center of the Hall until she is near the Altar, halts, and then Kerux moves behind Neophyte.

Hiereus & Hegemon: (speaking together and crossing tools before Altar) Whence comest thou?

Neo: I come from between the two Pillars and I seek the light of the Hidden Knowledge in the Name of Adonai ha Aretz.

Hierophant advances to East of Altar, thrusting Scepter between tools of Hiereus and Heg, making the 1=10 Sign..

Hiero: But Babalon spoke and said: I am the Reconciler for Earth, and the Celestial Soul therein. Form is invisible alike in Darkness and in blinding Light. I am the Eloah of this Planet and embody it as an Organic Whole and a nurturing Mother. I prepare the way to the Celestial Light.

Hegemon and Hiereus step back to South and North of Altar respectively. Hierophant takes Neophyte’s right hand in his left and pointing to the Altar and Diagram, says:

Hiero: The Elohim placed Kerubim about the Cosmos and a Flaming Sword which turned every way to keep the Path of the Tree of Life, for Nature exists that Life may not be lost in the Void.  The Divine may be found in all things, calling all that Lives to participate in Creating. It scribes mysteries in the Infinite Stars.  It allures us with Scattered Signs of the Divine Body in bird and beast and flower and stone, and speaks to us in wind and wave and flame and with our fellow's tongues. And when the time of ignorance is done all again will be seen as it ever was, infinite and holy

Hiero: Receive now the Mysteries of this Hall. (This may be read or ad lib.) The Step is given by taking two steps, showing that you have passed the threshold. The Sign is given by raising the right hand until it is pointing upward while the left points downward. It signifies the union of Heaven and Earth. It is the sign in which the Hierophant interposed for you between the Hiereus and the Hegemon. The Token is given by grasping the fingers thumb touching thumb to form a triangle. It refers to the Ten Sephiroth. The Word is ADONAI HA-ARETZ, and means Lord of the Earth, to which Element this Hall is allotted. The Mystic Number is 55, being the Sum of 1 to 10, and from it is formed the Pass-word Nun-Hé. This means ornament in Hebrew, and when given is lettered separately. The Badge of this Hall is the Hermetic Cross. 

Hierophant gives Hermetic Cross to Neophyte, saying

style='font-style:normal'>Hiero: style='font-style:normal'> The Hermetic Cross, which is also called Fylfot, Hammer of Thor and Swastika, is formed of 17 Squares out of a Square of 25 lesser squares. These 17 represent the Sun, the Four Elements, and the Twelve Signs of the Zodiac. It symbolizes that you have quit the Darkness of the outer world.

 Hierophant directs her attention to the Three Portals, saying:

Hiero: The Three Portals facing you in the East are the Gates of the Paths leading to the three further Halls with which the Zelator and the Neophyte form the first Order of our Fellowship.

Furthermore, they represent the Paths which connect the Tenth Sephirah Malkuth with the other Sephiroth. The letters Tov, Qoph and Shin make the word Qesheth: a Bow, the reflection of the Rainbow of Promise stretched over our Earth and which is about the realm of the Elohim

Hegemon points out the Flaming Sword saying:

Heg: This Drawing of the Flaming Sword of the Kerubim is a representation of the Guardians of the Tree, just as the Hiereus and Hegemon symbolize the Two Paths of Light and Darkness.

Hiereus points out Cross and Triangle, saying:

Hiereus: The Cross and the Triangle together represent Life and Light.  The Triangle refers to the Three Paths and the Cross to the Hidden Knowledge.

Hiero: This Hall is especially referred to the Element of Earth, and therefore one of its principal emblems is the Great Watch Tower or Terrestrial Tablet of the North. It is the Great Northern Quadrangle or Earth Tablet, and it is one of the four Great Tablets of the Elements said to have been given to Enoch by the Great Angel Ave. It is divided within itself into four lesser angles. The Letters upon it form various Divine and Angelic Names in what our tradition calls the Enochian language. From it is drawn the Great Name of Power that is borne upon the Banners of the North-MORDIALHCTGA, and there are also numberless names of Angels, Archangels, and spirits of the Nature of Elemental Earth.

Hiero: You will now leave the Temple for a short time.

Kerux leads Neophyte out.

Note : If more than one aspirant is to be initiated in this session stop here and perform the next initiation(s) up to this point.

Second Part: Entering The Temple in Malkuth

Note: Hiereus faces East; Stolistes and Dadouchos face the altar.  In conjunction with Hierophant and Hegemon, the officers form a cross with the altar at the center.

Hiero: Soror Kerux, when the Neophyte gives the proper alarm, please admit her. Sorors Stolistes and Dadouchos, assist the Kerux in the reception.

Sentinel goes out and instructs Neophyte in the knocks, (4-3-1-1-1). Stol. and Dad. take up positions so as to face Neophyte as she enters the Hall. Kerux opens the door and admits Neo. but does not stand in front of her.

Hiero: Soror _________, as in the Grade of Neophyte, you came from the Wide World to the Gateway of Hidden Knowledge, so in this Hall you pass through that Gateway and enter into the Temple.

Dad. and Stol. go to Neo. and whisper:

Dad: (while fumigating) Inflame thyself with prayer.

Stol: (while aspurging) Solve et Coagula.

Hiero: Go then to the Gateway of Hidden Knowledge. Enter in and become a partaker of the Mysteries of the Light Divine.

Stolistes and Dadouchos resume their places while Kerux leads Neo. to the Gateway, motioning her to pass through. Hiereus blocks her passage while Hiereus is standing exactly between Pillars.

Hiereus: Thou canst not pass the Gateway of Hidden Knowledge which is between the Pillars, unless thou canst give the Signs and Words of the Neophyte.

Neo. gives them, with help if needed from Kerux.

Hiereus: Enter thou in and become a partaker of the Mysteries of the Light Divine.

Hiereus motions Neo. past.  Heg. stops Neo. when she is exactly between the pillars and says

Heg: Thou canst not enter into the Temple unless thou canst give the Sign and Grip of the Zelator.

Neo. gives them, with help if needed from Kerux.

Heg: Welcome.  Become a partaker of the Mysteries of the Light Divine.

Hegemon leads Neo. to the diagram in the North.

Heg: The Outermost walls of the Temple are twelve-fold, and they are formed by the Girdle of Nuit.  This drawing before you represents their occult meaning. The 12 circles are the 12 signs of the Zodiac, while the Lamp in the center is symbolic of the Sun, which is the source of heat and life. The Four Triangles whose twelve angles touch one of the 12 circles are those of Fire, Earth, Air and Water and allude to the four Triplicities of the Zodiacal Signs. The Triangle inscribed within each of the 12 circles alludes to the 3 Decanates, or phases of ten degrees of each sign. Know that the 22 sounds and letters of the Hebrew Alphabet are the foundation of all things. Three Mothers, Seven Doubles and Twelve Simples. The Twelve Simple letters are allotted to the 12 directions in space, and those diverge to Infinity and are in the Arms of the Eternal. These Twelve Letters so designed and combined form the Twelve Celestial Constellations of the Zodiac and they are also the Girdle of Nuit. They are about the Universe as a Sovereign enthroned. They are in the revolution of the Year as Sovereigns traversing their Dominions, and they are in the heart of All as a Sovereign in Combat.

The twelve Scales are the images of those ideas; while within are the Four Archangels ruling over the Four Quarters, and the Kerubic emblems of the Lion, Human, Bull and Eagle.Around the great central Lamp, which is an image of the Sun, is the Great Mother of Heaven, symbolized by the letter Heh, the first of the Simple letters. She is the number 5 and the Pentagram. She is Malkah the Bride, ruling in he Kingdom Malkuth, crowned with a crown of Twelve Stars.

Heg. leads Neo to Hiereus, and is seated.  Hiereus leads Neo. to the diagram in the South.

Hiereus: Illuminating the Temple are the Lamps of Hadit, the Mystery of the Elohim, the Seven Creative Ideas. This drawing before you represents its occult meaning. The Seven Circles which surround the Heptagram represent the Seven Planets and the Seven Qabalistic Palaces of Assiah, the Material World.

Within each circle is a triangle to represent the Three-Fold Creative Idea operating in all things. About it is the Hebrew Name of the Angel of the Planet, the Hebrew Name of the Planet, and one of the Double letters of the Hebrew Alphabet.

The Seven Double Letters each have two sounds associated with them, one hard and one soft. In this they show forth the dualities of the world. These Seven letters also point out the 7 localities: Zenith, Nadir, East, West, North and South, and the Place of Holiness in the Center sustaining all things.

With them were designed, produced, combined and formed the Planets of the Universe, the Days of the Week and in the Human the Gates of the Soul. It is said that the number seven is blessed above all others.

Hiereus leads Neo. to the West of Altar and is seated. Stolistes & Dadouchos place implements on the altar as Hierophant advances to East of altar.  Stol. and Dad. return to their stations.

Hiero: In the Center of the Temple, before the Veil of the Sanctum Sanctorum, stands the Altar of the Universe of which this Altar is an image. It is of the form of a double cube, thus representing That Which is Below as a reflection and duplication of That Which is Above, except after another manner. The sides of the Altar, together with the top and bottom of the Altar, consist of ten squares, thus symbolizing the Ten Sephiroth of which the basal one is Malkuth, the realization of the rest upon the material plane, behind which the others are concealed. For were this double cube raised in the air immediately above your head, you would but see the single square forming the lowest side, the others from their position being concealed from you. Just so, behind the material Universe lies the concealed form of the Majesty of the Divine.

The Altar here is black to represent the terrestrial Earth. As Cosmos was of Chaos formed, and the Light arose in the Midst of Space, learn thou to refine the Gold of the Spirit from the Black Dragon. Upon the Cubical Altar are Fire, Water, and Air in the form of Incense, the Three Mother Letters of the Hebrew Alphabet, Aleph, Mem and Shin. Mem is silent, Shin is sibilant, and Aleph is the tongue of balance between these contraries in equilibrium, reconciling and mediating between them. This is a great Mystery, very admirable and recondite. The Fire produced the Heavens as the Water the Earth, and the Air is the reconciler between them. In the year, they bring forth the hot, the cold and the temperate seasons. In the human they are imaged in the head, the chest and the trunk.

I now confer upon you the Mystic Title of Periclinus de Faustus, meaning Blessed Adventurer, signifying your entrance into the Immeasurable Region. And I give you the symbol of ARETZ which is the Hebrew name for Earth, to which the 1=10 Hall of Zelator is referred. The word Zelator is derived from the ancient Egyptian Zaruator, signifying "Searcher of Athor," Goddess of Nature; but others see in it the meaning of the zealous student whose first duty was to blow the Athanor of Fire which heated the Crucible of the Alchemist

Hiero. resumes seat, Kerux seats Zelator in the northwest .

Hiero: Soror Kerux, please declare that our Soror has been duly admitted to 1=10 Hall of the Zelatori.

Kerux gives 1=10 Sign, comes to Northwest of Hiero, faces West, raises Wand and says:

Kerux: In the Name of ADONAI MELEKH, hear ye all that I proclaim that Soror _________ has been duly admitted to the 1=10 Hall of the Zelatori, and that she has obtained the Mystic Title of Periclinus (Pericline) de Faustus and the symbol of Aretz.

Kerux returns to place by East, saluting with 1=10 Sign, and by South and West.

Hiero: In the Zelator Hall, the symbolism of the Tenth Sephirah Malkuth is especially shown, as well as the Tenth Path of the Sepher Yetzirah. Among other Mystic Titles, Malkuth is called SHAAR, the Gate, which by metatheses becomes ASHUR, the number "ten". Also in Chaldee it is called THRAA, 'the Gate' which has the same numeration as ADONI, when written in full.

The Tenth Path of the Sepher Yetzirah which answers to Malkuth is called "The Resplendent Intelligence," Remember this, because it exalts above every head and sits upon the Throne of Binah. It illuminates the Splendor of all the Lights, the Zohar me-ourouth and causes the current of Divine Influx to descend.

Soror ______, before your advancement to the next Hall lies the task of committing certain rudiments of Occult knowledge to memory. When you have satisfied yourself with your attainment, arrangements will be made for you to sit for examination. Upon passing you will be ready at your discretion for the next Degree.

Closing

Hiero: (knocks) Please assist me to close the Temple of the Hall of the Zelatori. Soror Kerux, please see that the Temple is properly guarded.

Kerux: (knocks)

Kerux: Frater Hierophant, the Temple is properly guarded.

Hiero: (knocks) Let us adore the Archon of Earth.

All face East. New Zelator is directed to stand facing east.

Hiero: Adonai ha-Aretz, Adonai Melekh, Blessed be Thy Name unto the countless ages.

All salute with 1=10 Sign. Officers stand in the North as in Opening. Members stand facing North.

Hiero: (knocks) Let us rehearse the Prayer of the Gnomes or Earth Spirits. O Invisible Queen, Who taking the Earth for Foundation, didst hollow its depths to fill them with Thy Almighty Power. Thou Whose Name shaketh the Arches of the World, Thou who causest the Seven Metals to flow in the veins of the rocks, Queen of the Seven Lights, Rewarder of the subterranean Workers, Lead us into the desirable Air and into the Realm of Splendor. We watch and we labor unceasingly, we seek and we hope, By the twelve stones of the Holy City, By the buried Talismans, By the Axis of the Loadstone which passes through The center of the Earth-- Hear Us! Liberate those who suffer. Expand our hearts, unbind and upraise our minds, enlarge our natures. Stability and Motion! O Darkness veiled in Brilliance! O Day clothed in Night! O Mistress who never dost withhold the wages of Thy Workers! O Silver Whiteness--O Golden Splendor! O Crown of Living and Harmonious Diamond! Thou who wearest the Heavens on Thy Finger like a ring of Sapphire! Thou who hidest beneath the surface of the Earth, In the Kingdom of the Gems, the marvelous Seed of the Stars! Live, reign, and be Thou the Eternal Dispenser of the Treasures whereof Thou hast made us the Wardens.

Hierophant makes with Scepter the Banishing Circle and Pentagrams in the air before the Tablet.

Hiero: (Making banishing Passive Spirit Pentagram over Earth Tablet:) Depart ye in peace unto your habitations. May the blessing of Adonai be upon you. (Making banishing Earth Pentagram over Tablet:) Be there peace between us and you, and be ye ready to come when ye are called.

All return to their places.

Hiero: In the Name of Adonai Melekh, I declare this Temple closed in the 1=10 Grade of Zelator.
