Admission Process of the TLDAccording to our By-Laws, there are three steps for admitting new members into the TLD:
The Chief Adept currently administrates the admissions process. An Admissions Officer will be appointed when the group becomes large enough to warrant one.
Sponsorship All applicants must be sponsored by a member in good standing. A sponsor must be able to vouch for the character of the applicant. It is the sponsor’s responsibility to help guide to the applicant through the application process, answering any questions. Sponsors are encouraged to bring potential applicants to a TLD social in order to introduce them to the other members of the Temple. Application Any full member can give out applications. Members are advised to only give out applications to people they would be willing to sponsor. Completed applications are given to the Chief Adept, and it his responsibility to schedule an interview with the applicant in a timely manner. Interview The Chief Adept or his duly appointed representative will conduct the interview process. A relaxed, public environment is preferred for interviews, like a coffee shop or restaurant. One or two interviewers may be present. Sponsors may not be involved in the interview process.
Vote Membership votes may take place at any regular meeting. All members must be notified of the intention to vote on an application no less than two weeks before the vote is to take place. The voting process is threefold: First, the interviewer reports and reflects on the interview and makes a recommendation for rejection or acceptance. The application is made available for all members to review if they wish. Second, the members discuss the application. Third, a public vote is held. One black ball from any member will result in rejection of the applicant. A member may be called on to explain his reason for his decision to reject if it is not already common knowledge at this point in the process. The Chief Adept or his duly appointed representative is responsible for informing the applicant of the group’s decision. Applicants are not to be informed about the details of the rejection, just reminded about the voting policy. Rejected applicants are allowed to reapply in one year’s time. All applications are to be kept on file by the Secretary and are to be used for official temple business only. By-Laws ~ Admission Policy ~ Application for Admission
